Dear Editors,

I’m obliged to Jeffrey Kahan for calling me intelligent, and for devoting some 10,000 words to my Yale U. P. edition of Edward III.  But those words rely on his own wrong notions about logic and scholarship; to cite just one example, several “sane academics” have attributed Pericles solely to Shakespeare.  Kahan also omits all reference to my main evidence that the same applies to Edward III, although he later concedes that it too may well deserve inclusion in the canon.
